Zoe Bertram: Ireland Week 1 (My Chaotic Travel Journey)

The relief I felt when finally arriving in Dublin was worth the difficulties of my travel journey. I definitely did not have the easiest travel experience, to say the least. Originally, I was supposed to fly to Newark, meet up with a few of my friends, and then we would all fly from Newark to Dublin together. The first issue, because of course I was flying through Newark, came when I got to the airport hours before my flight, only to find out that my flight had been pushed back to depart after my flight from Newark to Dublin was […]

Riley Bossick Week 1: Red Ribbons or Red Flags?

This trip started off rough the second I stepped foot into the airport. My uncle insisted I get there 4 hours before boarding started because he was convinced the TSA lines were going to be long. Naturally, the opposite happened. I checked my luggage in 5 minutes and I flew through TSA taking 20 minutes total. Normally, it wouldn’t bother me but my flight got delayed for quite some time. Luckily I randomly met a girl that lives in Lewisburg while waiting. She just graduated from Notre Dame and was going to Dublin to meetup with friends before starting med […]

Tennyson Kelly: Ireland Week 1 – Getting Acclimated

My trip in Dublin had a scary start as I waited for over 20 minutes for my bag at the airport baggage claim. Almost everyone from my flight had claimed their luggage, and it was just me and a few other people waiting. I really thought that my trip was going to begin with lost luggage. Thankfully, my bag was the second to last one to come out, which was very relieving. Upon arriving, I was able to get settled in very quickly. I began talking to my roommates, Nick and Brad, as well as Max, who is in another […]

Ellix Sandhu: First week in Dublin

This week was filled with new experiences and new places. After arriving in Dublin Saturday morning, I was able to check into my apartment, which has a great view of campus buildings, greenery, and a local basketball court. Moving to another country comes with different challenges and new experiences, such as not having a meal plan or dining hall. This led to my roommates and I experimenting with food and cooking our own meals throughout the week, my favorite being a pasta dish made with meatballs and prosciutto. I Never thought of myself as being very good at cooking, however […]

Price Wilson: Dublin Week 1 – An Exciting Start!

After a series of delays and what felt like the longest layover of my life, my friends and I finally landed in Dublin at around 8:30 am on Saturday June 7th. Getting through customs was one of the most painless experiences I have ever had while traveling across countries and continents. All it was was a few simple questions and a quick stamp on my passport, and next thing I knew I was officially welcome in Dublin. And as anyone does when entering Dublin for the first time, my friends and I rushed over to the nearest bar in the […]

Brad Gerken Week 1: Diving into the Unknown

Throughout my first five days in Dublin, I have experienced some of the great parts about being abroad along with some challenges that needed to be overcome. Arriving in Dublin early in the morning and getting to University College Dublin’s campus around 11am I was already prepared to go to bed but knew that staying up and not napping was one of the few ways to combat the jetlag. Shortly after arriving and unpacking, two of my three roommates arrived at the apartment. I only knew one person who was on the program from Bucknell so I knew that I […]
