Colin Caricato: Dublin Week 2: Castles & Cake

Week 2 in Dublin has brought a sense of comfort as I’ve started to settle into the rhythm of life at UCD. I’ve made the usual runs to Tesco, Aldi, and SuperValu to pick up everyday essentials, and I’ve noticed that my roommates and I have evolved from casually eating out whenever hunger strikes to cooking at all hours of the day whenever we need a protein fix. I can tell you that Aldi is the best store hands down, especially when it comes to getting the value out of what you pay for. While it may not have much […]

Week 2: Dances to dead bodies

It’s only been about two weeks now that I arrived in Dublin. One of the most applicable skills that I’ve learned from my internship within this new week is how to use the company’s software platform more effectively. I had worked with spreadsheets before, but now I’m learning how to structure and dissect data into formats that actually influence real financial decisions. Getting hands-on experience like this is really helping me connect what I’ve learned in the classroom to how things work in the real world. It’s definitely boosted my confidence. One of the sites that truly impressed me was […]

Week 2: Week Two of Bucknell in Dublin

I have had several new and exciting experiences in Dublin during my time here so far. One memorable highlight was exploring the warehouse at Gill Publishing, where books are produced and distributed. It was very fascinating to explore this process. Upon entry, I was required to wear a bright orange vest to be aware of any potential dangers, which everyone was required to do. I walked around and was amazed by the room’s immense size. People also occasionally go into the warehouse to bring in packages from it. All employees have access to go to the warehouse. The warehouse is […]

Gideon Daniels: Week 2 – Settling In

This week at my internship, I was able to do some hands-on work with my company’s projects, which included wiring components together using electrical drawings and programming variable speed drives (VSDs). It’s been really exciting to learn so much about how electrical work is done in real applications and grow as an engineer as I have learned a lot of new information in a short amount of time. On Saturday, we took a trip to tour Kilkenny Castle. It was really interesting how the different areas represented different time periods based on the renovations that had been done by the […]

Riley Bossick Week 2: Sitting on the bench with Grandma

Now that I’ve been in Dublin for a bit, I feel like I’ve finally settled in. I’m slowly getting the hang of the bus system—though I somehow managed to get on the wrong bus three times in a row (don’t ask how, I’m still trying to figure that out myself). One day for lunch, I tried Bambino’s pizza, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I had the Vodka (8/10) and Vito slice (9.5/10). BOMB AF I highly recommend going, but go to the one on Baggot street because it’s less crowded.  While at Little Kitchen I felt so […]

Lucie Cahill Week 2: Got introduced to hurling!

My second week in Dublin has been off to a great start! I loved our day trip to Kilkenny on Saturday. The castle was beautiful and I had a lot of fun walking around and exploring the town. I especially enjoyed the crafts they were selling at the market outside the castle. I was so impressed by how intricate they were. On Sunday, we went shopping in Dublin and visited the Jellycat store which was really cute. We got gelato from Gino’s which was really good. The second week of internship has been off to a good start. Another intern […]
