Sienna Hurd: Week 3 – West Coast, Best Coast?

This past weekend, we ventured out to the West Coast of Ireland, where we explored a vibrant city and saw stunning views. Friday morning, we took the day off from our internship and set out by bus bright and early. Our first stop after crossing the country was the Cliffs of Moher. It was the most breathtaking sight. We were extremely lucky with the weather, not only could we see the cliffs clearly, but the sun was shining and the skies were blue, which made the view even more incredible. After walking around and enjoying the view, we stopped for […]

Brad Gerken: Week 3 – Taking a Locals Advice to Heart (by doing the opposite)

Week three in Ireland was tiring and busy but despite all of the long days, there isn’t a single thing which I regret doing. After a short work week, the group was off to the west coast of Ireland for a two night stay in Galway. Waking up on Friday for the 7:30 am bus was a rough way to start off the weekend but like the week before, a 20 minute stop at the Barack Obama Plaza revitalized me with energy for the day. Arriving at the Cliffs of Moher made the 3 and a half hour bus ride […]

Layth Kanafani: Week 3 (Back to Being Employed)

It has been quite a busy third week in Dublin. First and foremost, I had my second first day of the trip, this time at my new internship at the Beacon Hospital. I really enjoyed my first two days at the new internship, I feel like there is so much I can learn here and I look forward to going back and continuing my work on the project I started last week. Apart from work, this weekend of trips has been one to remember. The wake up Friday was terrible, but it was all worth it when we got to […]

Aidan O’Malley: Week 3 (A week of fond memories!)

What a week! This week was packed with so many new experiences. I had a first week at my new internship. I started learning the ins and outs of my job, and I had already learned valuable information in my first week. I have my first presentation tomorrow, which I am excited to complete. This weekend we took our first weekend to trip to Galway. I had been looking forward to visiting Galway with my friends since we all agreed to come spend our summer in Ireland. On Friday, we visited the Cliffs of Moher, which were breathtaking. Although having […]

Week 3: West Coast of Ireland

This weekend might have been one of the best of the entire program so far—possibly rivaled only by our trip to Northern Ireland. We had the chance to travel to Ireland’s stunning west coast and visit the iconic Cliffs of Moher. For those unfamiliar, the Cliffs of Moher are towering sea cliffs that rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean and stretch over five miles along the coast. They are, without question, the most breathtaking natural formation I’ve seen in Ireland. The only downside was that some of the hiking paths were closed, so we couldn’t explore the cliffs as […]

Richard Perez, Ireland: Week 2 – Oh no! They Kilkenny!

Another week goes, and another week of memories are made as I continue to sink my teeth into history and culture of Ireland! On the first stop of our weekend excursion, we traveled south to Kilkenny. We took a tour through Kilkenny Castle which was built in the 11th century and was privately owned until 1967 when it was gifted to the city of Kilkenny. It’s a beautiful palace which is now a museum that displays the history of Kilkenny. After the tour of the castle grounds, we had some free time where I took a ride on a trolley […]
