Richard Perez, Ireland: Week 4 – Kiss And Tell

Once again, we went exploring for castles on another fun Ireland adventure! We stopped at the Rock of Cashel. It was the original seat of the king of Munster and was used as a fortress for centuries afterwards. It was also the site that Brian Boru, the future high king of Ireland, was crowned. It’s a sacred place with many gravestones marked as early as the 20th century. A picture of the gravestones at the rock of Cashel. The next place that we went to was Blarney Castle, and there began my quest to kiss the Blarney stone. The Blarney […]

Week 4- Exploring Dublin with Owen!

This past week in Dublin has been one of my favorites so far. My boyfriend, Owen, came and visited me for his birthday. It was his first time visiting Ireland and I had so much fun showing him around Dublin. We spent a lot of time walking around, shopping, making dinners, and going out. He was especially excited to see his friends and fraternity brothers Ellix, Price, Layth, and Aidan so we went out with them and it was fun catching Owen up on our Ireland adventures. We were really lucky to have such warm weather this week. On his […]

Week 4: Living the moment

Last week wasn’t about checking things off the bucket list or finding adventures. It was about slowing down, drinking at the moment, and appreciating the little things Dublin has to offer. For a few weeks now, I’ve been running from one packed schedule to another, and this was the first time I let myself permit myself to merely be—and it was exactly what I needed. I started the week off by visiting the famous Guinness Storehouse. While it’s a tourist hot spot, it didn’t have a feel of being clichéd. Drinking a pint of what is the freshest Guinness on […]

A Week of Family Visits and Dublin Adventures

I’ve been living in Dublin for almost a month, and last week was one of the busiest so far. I traveled, spent time with family, and got back into my usual routine. On Thursday, I took a flight to the Netherlands to visit my family. I arrived that evening and met my parents for dinner. The next day, we drove to my grandfather’s house to celebrate his 85th birthday. It was nice to see everyone together and to mark such a big milestone. After the party, we met up with a family friend for lunch and caught up for a […]

Week 4: Rest and Recovery

This week got off to a hot start, working on writing my paper for ACFM 315. I went long into the night Wednesday, and woke up early Thursday to crank out the paper. After this long session of work, we headed to the Stags Head Pub where I had some much-deserved pints and listened to some spooky old Irish stories. After that, we headed to the merchants’ pub, where we got to enjoy dinner and try some famous Irish pudding. Later that night, we decided to test our luck on the blackjack tables at the local casino. After this pit […]

Emilia Lucas Week 4: Blarney, Backseat, and the National Bev

This week felt like one of true Irish enrichment. To start, I have been hearing about the European love of leisure (or lack of love for working), but I hadn’t remotely experienced it yet. Since my job is with a relatively large company, there are strict procedures for at home work, time off, etc. However, last week this finally changed! On Friday I was let out of work a WHOLE hour early to celebrate the last Friday of the month! (Yes, an hour is barely generous. But it genuinely changed the trajectory of my day.) Zoe, Rayna, and I ended […]
