Riley Bossick Week 5: Forgot My Voice in Northern Ireland

This weekend was jam packed with trips and experiences that will stick with me. It started off on Thursday and Friday, going out with my friends from California before heading up to Northern Ireland. The entire time we were driving to see the Titanic Museum in Belfast, I was confused on why there was a museum there. Come to find out the Titanic was actually built there. I had no idea, but learned so much during the visit. Afterwards, we went on a Political Taxi Tour. I was aware that there were conflicts between Catholics and Protestants, but hearing and […]

Brad Gerken Week 5: History, Baby lambs, and More History

As each week in Ireland flies by faster than the previous, week 5 took one more step towards the end of this program. There was a subtle but nice change of pace this week compared to the last few. Although it still went by fast, each day felt long as we were able to do and experience so much in what seemed like such little time. The weekend trip was also a lot more history based as we were in Northern Ireland and it resparked my interest for the importance of the history across all of Ireland.  Although nearly everything […]

Ellix Sandhu: Week 5 in Dublin

Week 5 in Dublin was one to remember! The summer is flying by, as we are officially in the latter half of my 8 weeks here in Ireland. Friday night I went to a rooftop steak house in the city to get some amazing views, good food, and to celebrate my mom’s birthday. After that, my family and I went on a cocktail bar crawl, where we were able to try a bunch of different drinks and see some parts of the city that I hadn’t explored before. After saying goodbye to my family, I met up with some friends […]

Aidan O’Malley: Week 5 (The Rich History of Northern Ireland)

Week 5 of Bucknell in Dublin ended with the 4th of July on Friday night. On Friday, Price, Layth, and I attended yet another Saint Patrick’s FC soccer game. Unfortunately, once again, the game ended 0–0. Although the game was scoreless, it was an incredibly exciting match. St. Patrick’s FC took on Bohemian FC, the other Irish soccer team in Dublin. As both teams were from Dublin, it made the game a historic and competitive one. After the game, Price, Layth, and I ventured off into the city to meet up with Ellix and his parents. Ellix’s parents were visiting […]

Layth Kanafani: Week 5 (Murals & Matchday)

Well we officially have less then a month left on this trip and as each day goes by I realize more and more just how unique this experience truly has been. From a soccer game, to a birthday celebration, to traveling to UK territory, this past week has been very eventful for my friends and I.On Friday, Aidan, Price, and I visited another St. Patrick’s FC soccer game at their home stadium Richmond Park. With it being their last regular season game, and their opponent (Bohemians) also being from Dublin, we found ourselves in a sold out stadium. The atmosphere […]

Week 5: Walls and Worries

This long weekend started with the 4th of July on Friday. We celebrated by eating at Domino’s, playing basketball, and having a night out on the town. Early Saturday morning, we headed north to the United Kingdom and Belfast. Our first stop was the Titanic museum, where we got to learn more about the fatal voyage and eat some much-needed lunch. We then headed to the taxis for our political tour. On this tour, we were taken around and learned about the conflict in Northern Ireland through murals and seeing the walls. I was shocked by this. I always knew […]
