Norah Wolff: Week 5 – Weekend Northbound

Just like that, we hit the halfway point in our summer abroad in Dublin this past Friday. When my roommates and I came to this realization, it was a mixed reaction. To this very moment, I have no idea how I have amassed so many memories and learning experiences all whilst only being in Dublin for a month. Following this initial reaction, we also realized how many things we still had on our agenda to complete in our remaining month here. For now though, let’s look back on another incredible week I had! After another routine week at work, I […]

Campbell Coonley: Week 5 – Stars, Stripes, and Sheep

This past week has been one of the best and busiest weeks in my time here. On Friday, I was given the day off from work to celebrate the 4th of July which was very exciting because I have not yet had a day off! I went downtown to grab coffee and lunch, then ended up walking all the way to the beach and eventually back to UCD. That night we celebrated the 4th, of course representing the USA in our red, white, and blue attire.  Saturday we had an early morning to depart for Belfast. Our first stop was […]

Molly Walsh- A Walk Through Northern Ireland’s History

This past week has been one of the most beautiful and enriching experiences I’ve had on this trip thus far. Our weekend trip to Northern Ireland was filled with history, culture, and scenery. We began our journey in Belfast, where we visited the Titanic Museum. I have always been super interested in the Titanic and learning about it’s history. The interactive exhibits and artifacts were powerful and truly brought the story to life. Afterward, we went on a taxi tour of the city, where we got to see firsthand the murals and peace walls that tell the story of Belfast’s […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 5 – Oh Sheep!

This past weekend, we made our way up to Northern Ireland. After leaving Dublin on Saturday morning, we arrived in Belfast around 11 am and went straight to the Titanic Museum. The museum was super cool, it walked you through the building process of the ship, all the way to its rediscovery in 1985. We grabbed a quick lunch at the cafe there before going on a political taxi tour. For the tour, we all split up into different cars and drove around Belfast, getting out at specific stops that showcased Northern Ireland’s history and the catholic-protestant, or Irish-British, conflict. […]

Week 5: Northern Ireland

My time at Prodieco keeps improving, not only because I am learning more, but also because I’ve been able to prove myself and, with that, take on a much larger role in the company. I’m unable to share specific details about what my work entails, but I can share that I am no longer just printing papers, working on spreadsheets, or learning more on SolidWorks. I am now developing and implementing solutions in SolidWorks to fix and improve the machines. This experience has been incredibly valuable, and I’m excited to continue and see what the rest of the summer entails. […]

Zoe Bertram: Ireland Week 5 (What I’ve been waiting for!)

I am officially 5 weeks into the Bucknell in Dublin program, and I’ve finally had the opportunity to experience the thing I’ve been looking forward to since applying- holding a baby sheep! As usual, it has been a whirlwind of exciting experiences, both through my internship and while exploring Ireland. A couple weeks ago, my internship supervisor, the Senior Economist at TASC, launched the Ireland 2025 Inequality Report. The launch featured a lecture summarizing the report’s findings, followed by a panel of experts who discussed the report in relation to their individual fields of work. Everyone from economists and policy […]
