Emilia Lucas Week 5: Baaa-fast and Derry-oke

We kicked off our fifth week in Dublin very patriotically, with the Fourth of July. My coworkers, all fascinated by the first American they have worked with, greeted me with wishes of a happy fourth, and I was even let off of work a half hour early to start my celebration! It was sad to not spend the Fourth of July in the good old U.S. of A., but we kept spirits high playing Bruce Springsteen and cooking up some hot dogs before heading out for a fun night! It’s safe to say that being away from our home on […]

Gideon Daniels – Week 5: Northern Downpour

Last weekend, we took a trip into Northern Ireland. This trip was one of the parts of the program that I had been looking forward to the most. In particular, I was really excited to see the Giant’s Causeway, since I heard how beautiful and unique that landmark is. We had a guide bring us up to the Giant’s Causeway and explain the mythology surrounding it, which says that it used to stretch all the way to Scotland, but a giant knocked it under the water to prevent passage between the islands, as well as the geological cause for its […]

Tennyson Kelly: Ireland Week 5 – Learning About Irish Politics

Week 5 in Ireland was packed with activities and lots of learning! The weekend began with us going to Northern Ireland. I knew that the British rule of Northern Ireland was controversial to Irish people, but I had no idea how serious it was. One difficult thing about this week was having to celebrate the 4th of July in another country. The 4th is a holiday that is celebrated all weekend long where I’m from, so it was disappointing to miss out on all of the festivities that were going on back at home. However, we still found time to […]

Nick Snyder: Ireland Week 5 – From Rope Bridges to Baby Lambs

My fifth week in Ireland was quite eventful, as besides my normal internship week, it included a weekend trip to Northern Ireland where we explored Belfast, Derry, and the surrounding areas. My week began with a continuation of my internship at Think Biosolution where I focused on implementing a payment system for the AI Voice Agent. Throughout the week I did research and found that the most efficient to implement it was using a program called Stripe that allowed me to call certain APIs through Postman, a website. My further understanding of these programs made me realize how much background […]

Price Wilson: Dublin Week 5 – Two Nights, Two Cities!

As time passes here in Ireland, it is safe to say that I am definitely getting the hang of living here. In previous years and summers, I have noticed that it can be super easy to get into a routine, but as a result, the days and weeks start to blend together because you are doing the same thing day in and day out. But I am very happy to say that that is not the case here, as each week we do new and exciting activities (often at the cost of long bus rides) that provide enough excitement to […]

Week 5: Belfast and Outgoing

Last week, I had the opportunity to travel to Belfast—a trip that inspired and rejuvenated me. We were fortunate enough to be staying in a hotel (as opposed to a hostel), and I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I was for this. A decent night’s sleep made a world of difference as we spent our days taking in all that this historically and naturally beautiful area had to offer. The standout of my time in Belfast was, without a doubt, a visit to the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. As a nature lover and fan of scenic landscapes, this was an experience […]
