Brad Gerken Week 6: Swinging sticks and failing to hit the ball

On what was supposed to be a more calm and laid back week, I somehow managed to tire myself out just the same. From the night spent at the Irish House Party to playing Gaelic sports, I had my fair share of activities and moving around.  On Thursday, our whole group went to the Irish House Party for dinner and a show afterwards. This was definitely an experience which I did not see coming. I went into the night blindly with little knowledge of what was to come. We started the night out with a relaxing 3 course dinner. For […]

Aidan O’Malley: Week 6 (Friends from out of town)

Week 6 of Bucknell in Dublin was a rather good week. On Friday, I ended the week finishing up another project at work and feeling excited for my friend John to visit from Munich. On Saturday morning, my friend John arrived and we spent the entire day out in the city of Dublin. I showed him some of my favorite spots. My friends and I all enjoyed a delicious taco dinner in the city before going out for the night. On Sunday morning, we had the Gaelic games experience, which John was able to attend with us. I was shocked […]

Kayla Cullinane: Ireland Week 6 (Seals, Sunshine, and the Sea)

Week 6 complete! With each week that I spend here in Ireland I find my time to be even more exhilarating and exciting than the last. I’ve had another amazing week and feel so lucky for the beautiful weather and heatwave Ireland experienced. For the past week there has been a rare forecast of no rain and temperatures above 70 degrees. I definitely took advantage of this and spent most of my time each day outside or walking places instead of taking the bus. Since last week on Wednesday I’ve been spending time with my family and my boyfriend, Stephen, […]

Colin Caricato: Dublin Week 5- A trek Up North

Leading up to week five has brought even more excitement as I continue to enjoy my Dublin Journey. This weekend we had the chance to travel up north to visit Northern Ireland. One of the biggest improvements from this weekend overnight trip to the last one was our staying arrangements. Instead of being packed into six-person hostel rooms with thin walls, we were upgraded to the Holiday Inn Express, where we stayed in two-person rooms with larger beds and much more space. Although staying in hostels was a fun and memorable experience when we were in Galway, it was definitely […]

Week 5: Belfast/Derry

The standout in school last week has been one of the best lessons I’ve had so far here on politics and the culture of the divide that there was in Northern Ireland, on things such as Bloody Sunday. It thoroughly opened my eyes to how much history isn’t past tense in people’s lives here and expanded my knowledge of how much more there can be than just reading in books. Being able to see it for myself first-hand and being told about it at the same time instantly gave me a different kind of respect for just how much place […]

Lucie Cahill Week 5- New Experiences in the North!

This past weekend, we took a trip to Northern Ireland which was a really interesting experience for me. To start, I embarrassingly had no idea that Northern Ireland was actually a separate country. I always just assumed it was referred to as Northern Ireland the same way you would distinguish Northern America to the South. It was weird getting there and realizing that I didn’t have service because my sim card no longer worked and everything was in pounds instead of euros. We started at the Titanic museum, which I loved. I’ve always been really interested in the Titanic, and […]
