Anthony Bell – Ireland Week 6: A Weekend of Gaelic Games and History

As I sit down to write this blog I can’t help but reflect on the fact that it does not feel like I have been in Ireland for 6 weeks. Despite having experienced so much of what Ireland has to offer, learning so much about myself and Irish history and culture, making new friends, and so much more, it still feels like I am only on my second or third week here. But I must acknowledge that the trip is coming to an end, especially because this upcoming weekend is the last scheduled weekend trip. It is a little saddening […]

Emilia Lucas Week 6 – Happy in Howth

This past weekend, I was delighted to have my first free Saturday in Dublin! It came at a perfect time as we hit a heat wave in Dublin. Something I’ve been missing dearly about home is living in a beach town and having consistently hot, sunny weather. I was so grateful to have that much needed sun. Rayna, Lucie, and I packed some things bright and early on Saturday morning and got straight onto the dart to get to Howth before the sun hit it’s peak. When we arrived, we were amazed at how vastly different Howth’s town center was […]

Week Six-Family and Fun!

This week began for me as I said goodbye to my parents and sister. They came to Dublin to visit me and had been exploring all around Ireland. We went to dinner at Layla’s Rooftop where I had a delicious dinner and said see you in three weeks to my family! The next day I met up with Kayla’s family at Johnnie Fox’s. If you’ve never been, it’s a old-school pub up in the mountains (highest elevated pub in Ireland) with live music, delicious food, and a very traditional and cozy atmosphere. It was great to be able to see […]

Week 6: Finally some sun!

This past week in Dublin has really felt like summer, with the nicest weather we’ve had. Saturday was the hottest day yet, so Emilia and Rayna and I decided to go to Howth for the day. It ended up being one of my favorite days on this trip! We took the train out in the morning, and even though Howth was only an hour away from Dublin it felt like an entirely different world. The town was so nice, it reminded us of an American coastal fishing town that you would find somewhere like Cape Cod. As soon as we […]

Rayna Tyler Week 6: Howth and Hurling!

I can’t believe we are getting to the end of our time in Ireland. With few trips left, I am excited to soak in the time we have left in Ireland. This week was a little less active than the last few, which was a nice reset and opportunity to explore more of what Dublin has to offer. Most of my weekdays have been spent coding and creating workflows at work, and resting or doing school work in the evenings. Today, I finally got the workflows to run properly and saw immense progress on our data hygiene efforts. It was […]

Max Wilson: Week 6 – Soaking Up the Sun

The sun finally came out in Dublin this week, which was great because this weekend we had time on Saturday and most of Sunday to explore Dublin on our own. On Friday, since it was such a beautiful day out my advisor let me leave the workplace early to get outdoors. I was able to take advantage of this by going back to UCD and playing some basketball while the sun was still out with Tennyson. Although neither of us was that great, we still had a fun time spending the afternoon outdoors in the heat. That night, we also […]
