Brad Gerken Week 8: Conquering the Unknown

As my time spent in Ireland is drawn to a close, it is clear that I have developed into a better person with newfound skills and a plethora of experiences to share. The eight weeks spent in Dublin was an experience that I did not see myself taking part in a year ago and one that I would not trade for anything.  Arriving in Ireland early in June, I was confronted with uncertainty and unknowns. I was dropped in a new place, with new people, starting a new job, and immersing myself in a new culture. At the time, all […]

Week 4 in Dublin

This past week in Dublin wasn’t the most exciting, but it was still productive in its own way. On Thursday, I walked to Blackrock after work, grabbed some gelato, and browsed a few shops. It was a nice break in the routine. Later that evening, we went to the Irish Dance Party for dinner, but I had to leave early — I wasn’t feeling well. By the next day, I was still under the weather and decided to work from home. What started as a minor issue turned into a more frustrating one when I developed a bad eye infection. […]

Zoe Bertram: Ireland Week 7 (What the Howth!)

Week 7 of Bucknell in Dublin is already coming to an end and I cannot believe how fast it has gone by. We only have one more week after this which means this is my second to last blog. I have grown to really enjoy blogging, and I am considering continuing my weekly blogs even after Dublin. It is a great way to keep my family and friends updated on my life. This past week was definitely more laid-back than most, but the slower pace was much needed—especially since my friends and I are heading to Portugal tomorrow for our […]

Colin Caricato, Ireland Week 7: Wings, Reunions, and Celtic Ruins

As we approach the end of our time in Dublin, this week presents a lot to reflect on. From going to Howth and hiking the coastal cliffs to reconnecting with old friends, this week has included lots of memorable moments. This weekend was slower than some of the others; however, it still ended up being filled with tons of fun activities. On Saturday, we had the pleasure of going to the Celtic Boyne Valley Tour. I enjoyed this day and I loved being able to spend time with Dean Kepner’s Daughter, Lily, while we ventured around the countryside and got […]

Week in Dublin: Castles, Coastlines, and Catching Up

This past week in Dublin was a good mix of routine, travel, and downtime. Thursday and Friday were typical workdays—after finishing up at Happythreads, I usually headed into the city center for a walk or dinner. Saturday was more eventful with a full-day Celtic Boyne Valley tour. We visited several historical sites including the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew passage tomb, and the Hill of Uisneach. Most of the tour was outdoors, which made it even better. It was a refreshing way to see more of Ireland’s landscape and history in one day. Afterward, we stopped for lunch and […]

Rayna Tyler Week 7: The Gals Are Back in Galway!

With only one more week to go, I wanted to visit my favorite place we have been on this trip thus far: Galway. There was no better time than when my family came over from the U.S. and London, as I got to show them the west coast and further explore. Before heading out west, though, my roommates and I had a girl’s night on Wednesday. We went to a Mexican restaurant speakeasy, above a street taco shop. I have never been to a place like it before. It had a very cool, intimate vibe that made it feel like […]
