Week 8: The Final Days

My brother, my dad, and a close friend were visiting me this weekend. They arrived early Friday morning. We had breakfast at a local cafe, then we went back to UCD to show the dorm and get their stuff situated. We were on the move again, because we had a 2:20 tee time at the Royal Dublin Golf Links. The course was extremely challenging and windy, but we still had a great time playing a true links-style golf course for the first time. After the round, we enjoyed a nice complimentary dinner with a view of the golf course and […]

Week 7: Tales and Treks

This weekend got started off early on Thursday after work with dinner at a pub. After dinner, we decided to spend the night exploring more of Dublin. We had an early morning next Friday and a busy day of work. I was feeling a little sick, so I enjoyed some pizza and went to sleep early, preparing for our early trip the next morning. After an early morning call, we headed to the Dublin countryside to the Hill of Tara, where we got to see the famous stone that crowned early Irish Kings by screaming out loud. After a much-needed […]

Week 6: Games, Golf, and Gears

The weekend got off to an early start on Thursday with a nice salmon dinner at the Irish House Party venue. After some ice cream and brownies for dessert, we headed down to the basement for some traditional Irish music. The music was fun to listen to and clap along to, and we even got to see some traditional Irish tap dancing. After this event, we hit the town to enjoy some Dublin nightlife. Friday, I had to give a two-minute presentation on the company call. After work on Friday, we headed to a nice dinner at a Thai restaurant. […]

Week 5: Walls and Worries

This long weekend started with the 4th of July on Friday. We celebrated by eating at Domino’s, playing basketball, and having a night out on the town. Early Saturday morning, we headed north to the United Kingdom and Belfast. Our first stop was the Titanic museum, where we got to learn more about the fatal voyage and eat some much-needed lunch. We then headed to the taxis for our political tour. On this tour, we were taken around and learned about the conflict in Northern Ireland through murals and seeing the walls. I was shocked by this. I always knew […]

Week 4: Rest and Recovery

This week got off to a hot start, working on writing my paper for ACFM 315. I went long into the night Wednesday, and woke up early Thursday to crank out the paper. After this long session of work, we headed to the Stags Head Pub where I had some much-deserved pints and listened to some spooky old Irish stories. After that, we headed to the merchants’ pub, where we got to enjoy dinner and try some famous Irish pudding. Later that night, we decided to test our luck on the blackjack tables at the local casino. After this pit […]
