Sienna Hurd: Week 8 – Until Next Time!

It’s our last week in Ireland, and I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. This past weekend was our free weekend, so on Thursday, Molly, Kayla, Nora, Campbell, and I all flew to Mallorca, an Island off of Spain. We spent 4 nights there, soaking up the sun as much as we could. It was a very relaxing trip, and we spent the whole first day lying on the beach. Unfortunately, the bus drivers were on strike while we were there, which made getting around very difficult, but we made it work. On the first night, we had […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 7 – Hills, Hurling, and Howth

Only 1 week left in Ireland, and time is flying by! On Saturday, we left bright and early for the Celtic Boyne Valley Day Trip. We started off at the Hill of Tara, then we went to the Trim Castle, the Loughcrew Passage Tomb, and ended the day at the Hill of Uisneach before arriving back at UCD. It was a long day, but the scenery was amazing, and even though it was supposed to rain all day, we still got some sun, which made all of the views even prettier. On Sunday, my friend Grace was in Dublin with […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 6 – A Quick Getaway!

Another week in Ireland has passed, and I can’t believe we have less than three weeks left. The office has been a bit slow lately, as many people are on vacation, but I’m continuing to work on my project, and it’s coming along really well. Wednesday was one of the other interns’ last days, and our manager got a cake to celebrate his time at Mental Health Ireland. After work, I took the bus straight to Dundrum for shopping. There were a few things I wanted to get for my weekend trip to Portugal. For some reason, I was very […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 5 – Oh Sheep!

This past weekend, we made our way up to Northern Ireland. After leaving Dublin on Saturday morning, we arrived in Belfast around 11 am and went straight to the Titanic Museum. The museum was super cool, it walked you through the building process of the ship, all the way to its rediscovery in 1985. We grabbed a quick lunch at the cafe there before going on a political taxi tour. For the tour, we all split up into different cars and drove around Belfast, getting out at specific stops that showcased Northern Ireland’s history and the catholic-protestant, or Irish-British, conflict. […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 4 – Castles and Cold Water!

I can’t believe that we’re already going on our fourth week here in Ireland! At this point, I am fully settled in at my internship and have become very familiar and comfortable travelling around Dublin. Here’s a little about my past week! Last Monday, after class, we visited the Dublin Castle and the Custom House. It was really cool to learn about the history behind both buildings and explore them. On Thursday, one of my friends from home was visiting Dublin to see family, so we met up in the city to grab lunch and walk around. It was really […]

Sienna Hurd: Week 3 – West Coast, Best Coast?

This past weekend, we ventured out to the West Coast of Ireland, where we explored a vibrant city and saw stunning views. Friday morning, we took the day off from our internship and set out by bus bright and early. Our first stop after crossing the country was the Cliffs of Moher. It was the most breathtaking sight. We were extremely lucky with the weather, not only could we see the cliffs clearly, but the sun was shining and the skies were blue, which made the view even more incredible. After walking around and enjoying the view, we stopped for […]
