This weekend, I took the opportunity of having no scheduled events to take a trip into Europe, as this summer is my first venture out of North America and so I wanted to get out and see some of the other countries that are nearby. I landed on Paris, for one because the flights from Dublin were fairly cheap and I tend towards frugality when possible, but also because I have wanted to visit France for a long time now and this was the perfect chance to fulfill that goal. I took French for two years in high school, so […]
This week, we spent most of our time together exploring the natural beauty and landmarks of Ireland, as we visited some of the important hills and tombs of the countryside on Saturday and the cliffs at Howth on Monday. Getting to be in nature and see more of the natural wonders of Ireland was really special. Last weekend, we took a trip into Northern Ireland. This trip was one of the parts of the program that I had been looking forward to the most. This weekend, we traveled to Blarney Castle, where we had the opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone. Unfortunately, the lines to kiss it were very long and the majority of our time at the castle would have been spent waiting in line. Instead, we decided to walk around the estate and explore the nature surrounding the castle. They have a very diverse garden with multiple different themes that all had their own unique energy, but were all beautiful to experience. My favorite of these was probably the fern garden, which housed ferns that supposedly were originally found during the Jurassic […]
This week, we took our first long-weekend trip of the program, to the West Coast of Ireland. It felt more like a traditional vacation than our time in Dublin has been, packed with activities every day to try to see all of the most important spots in the area and discovering great food across the city of Galway where we stayed, as opposed to the more normal-life schedule of Dublin with internships and class meetings and the need to minimize expenses as much as possible, meaning not going out as much. Being able to sightsee and visit all of these […]
