This weekend, we had an incredible experience traveling outside of Dublin. While I’ve come to love Ireland and all that it has to offer, I’ve been missing the sunshine and yearning for a tan. We knew when booking our trip that it was imperative to get some vitamin D and beach time. This past week, I was lucky enough to have my parents visit in Dublin! The night before they arrived, we went to an acclaimed taco bar in the city and what we found there was super unexpected. We walked over to the location, sort of hidden down an alley, but we were taken to a local chain Mexican food place. Very confused, we walked inside and were greeted by a worker who led us over to a wall that happened to be a secret door into the restaurant! This past weekend, I was delighted to have my first free Saturday in Dublin! It came at a perfect time as we hit a heat wave in Dublin. Something I’ve been missing dearly about home is living in a beach town and having consistently hot, sunny weather. I was so grateful to have that much needed sun. We kicked off our fifth week in Dublin very patriotically, with the Fourth of July. My coworkers, all fascinated by the first American they have worked with, greeted me with wishes of a happy fourth, and I was even let off of work a half hour early to start my celebration! This week felt like one of true Irish enrichment. To start, I have been hearing about the European love of leisure (or lack of love for working), but I hadn’t remotely experienced it yet.
