Campbell Coonley: Week 8 – Thanks a mil, Dublin!

I can’t believe I’m writing my final blog post of the summer! These past eight weeks have been some of the best of my life – exploring and living in a different country, learning so many new skills, travelling to incredible places, and making some of the best friends I could ask for. I am so sad to leave behind a place that truly feels like home.  My friends and I took advantage of our free weekend and travelled to Mallorca! Norah and I departed for the airport on Thursday afternoon to catch our 6pm flight, but didn’t take off […]

Campbell Coonley: Week 7 – Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

It’s hard for me to think about the fact that we only have one week left here. Seven weeks ago I arrived in a foreign country with no idea what I was doing, yet now Dublin feels like home. Time really does fly when you’re having fun! My friends and I have definitely been making the most of the little time we have left, so around our busy work schedules, we are constantly exploring downtown, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the pubs. My internship is still going well – I am continuing to learn new skills and now spend most of my time filing tax returns. I’m sure I will become an expert by the end of the summer! My friends and I continue to enjoy all that downtown Dublin has to offer. I really enjoyed the Irish house party that we attended on Thursday night! The musicians were incredibly […]

Campbell Coonley: Week 5 – Stars, Stripes, and Sheep

This past week has been one of the best and busiest weeks in my time here. On Friday, I was given the day off from work to celebrate the 4th of July which was very exciting because I have not yet had a day off! I went downtown to grab coffee and lunch, then ended up walking all the way to the beach and eventually back to UCD. That night we celebrated the 4th, of course representing the USA in our red, white, and blue attire.  Saturday we had an early morning to depart for Belfast. Our first stop was […]

Campbell Coonley: Week 4 – Castles to Coastlines

I can’t believe we are already halfway through our trip and it somehow manages to keep getting better! On Saturday we took a day trip to the Rock of Cashel, the Blarney Castle, and the Cahir Castle. I enjoyed having lots of time to explore the castles on our own and they were all unique in their own ways. When we arrived at our second stop, the Blarney Castle, we headed straight to get in line to kiss the stone. Some friends and I waited for nearly two hours, but we kept each other occupied and time passed surprisingly quickly! […]
