Tennyson Kelly: Ireland Week 4 – Witnessing the Culture

This week was jam-packed and filled with many days to remember. The week kicked off with our trip to the Stags Head pub for Irish folklore and fairytales on Thursday night. The pub has a lot of history, and the stories told were very interesting.

Over the weekend, we took a day trip to see even more castles! We started the day trip at the Rock of Cashel, which is around 1,000 years old! We then went to Blarney Castle, which was a beautiful property. Everyone got in line to kiss the Blarney Stone, but after seeing that the wait would be around two hours, Brad, Nick, and I left the line so that we would have time to see the rest of the property. We saw the actual Blarney Castle, the lake where the Blarney Stone was found, and lots of cows on the property. One very cool thing about the property is the poison garden, which showcases many plants that are poisonous or are used to make poison.

On Monday, we went to take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse – one of the trips that I had been looking forward to the most. It was very cool to see how Barley and Wheat are processed and stored and then how they are used in the making of Guinness. I didn’t know making Guinness would be such a complex process. One cool thing I learned is that the factory makes 3.2 million pints of Guinness a day! Following, the tour, we went up to the gravity bar above the storehouse, which had beautiful 360 degree views of the entire city. Next, Brad, Max, Nick, and I went to the Dundrum center to see the F1 movie, a movie which I had been wanting to see. The movie was very good and it was cool to see how the real F1 drivers are casted in it.

Tuesday Night, some of us went to see Noah Kahan perform at Marlay park. The venue was huge and there were thousands of people watching. The concert was amazing and it was very cool to see Noah Kahan perform in person.

At my internship, things have been going very well. I have spent more time getting to know my coworkers and they have been very helpful. I am also gaining meaningful experience at my internship, which will definitely help me in the future. I am looking forward to what experiences are coming in the next few weeks!
