This week started with a bang, as we jumped right into our first event on Thursday. That evening, we made our way to the Stag’s Head, a historic pub, where we attended their folklore and fairies night. The atmosphere was lively and filled with stories, giving us a unique glimpse into Irish culture and myth.
The following night, I had the chance to spend time with my coworkers outside of our usual work environment. We had a lovely office dinner together, which was followed by a fun night out for drinks in Dublin. It was such a refreshing experience to connect with everyone in a more relaxed setting, and it allowed Charlie and me to get to know our colleagues on a more personal level.
On Saturday, we took a trip to the famous Blarney Castle. I finally got the chance to kiss the Blarney Stone, earning the so-called gift of the gab! The castle grounds were breathtaking, with panoramic views of the town below, beautifully maintained gardens, and green valleys with cows. Although the line to kiss the stone was pretty long, it didn’t feel like a burden at all. The company of friends and the incredible sights along the way made the wait enjoyable and surprisingly quick.
Sunday was a quieter day. I decided to take some time for myself to rest and reset before diving into another busy week. It was the perfect chance to reflect on all the things we’ve already experienced.
Later in the week, we visited the Guinness Storehouse, one of Dublin’s most iconic attractions. It was such a fun and immersive experience, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how Ireland’s most famous beer is made. The highlight was the Gravity Bar at the top of the storehouse, where we were treated to stunning 360-degree views of Dublin and a complimentary pint of Guinness to enjoy while taking it all in. Afterwards, Nick, Tennyson, Brad, and I made our way to the Dundrum movie theater to catch the new Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt. It was a great way to wind down and share some laughs after a day of exploring.
To top it all off, on Tuesday night, I went to the Noah Kahan concert at Marlay Park. The concert was an absolute blast. It was amazing to see him perform live in such a big venue. I went with a big group that included people from the Bucknell in Dublin program as well as some friends of a fellow intern. It was great meeting students from other U.S. schools who were also spending their summer doing internships in Ireland. What made the night even more memorable was that it was the largest crowd Noah Kahan has ever performed in front of, which made the experience feel all the more special.
