Another week has passed in Ireland, and that means it is time for a new blog! This week has been just as much fun as the past three weeks, and it is crazy to think about how half of my time here has been spent.
Starting with my internship, everything has been going pretty smoothly. Last Thursday, I finally got my LEGO AFM machine up and running which made me super excited. I thought it would mean I could finally move onto the outreach portion of my assignment. Sadly, the very next day the gears stopped turning. I spent the next two days trying to troubleshoot issues (with no success), but I finally got it up and running again today! As of right now, everything is running smoothly, so fingers crossed it is still doing fine tomorrow.
Now onto the fun parts. Earlier this week, one of my fraternity brothers came over to Ireland to visit and spend some time here for his birthday. It was super fun to hang out with him and catch up on all of the things he’s done since we’ve left school. We went to lots of great pubs with even greater live music which I absolutely loved!
On Saturday, we had a day trip to Blarney Castle and Gardens. We had a bright and early wake up and many hours spent on the bus, but we were able to visit three separate castles. They all were super beautiful and it was cool to see all of the similarities and differences each one had to offer due to their geographical locations. My favorite was definitely Blarney Castle because it was the biggest and also had farms and gardens to look through. There was even a rock you could kiss that would apparently bring luck, but after looking at the two hour line forming, my friends and I decided to miss out on that experience.
A few weeks back, my friend Aidan and I were talking about going to see the Backseat Lovers in concert that Saturday night, but we decided not to after hearing what time we would be getting back from the castles. But on the bus, we found that we actually did have enough time to go see them and book the tickets the day of (talk about spontaneous). The concert was so much fun and they played almost all of my favorite songs, making it an experience I will never forget!
We have another busy week ahead of us, and this weekend we are going to Belfast. I am definitely starting to feel worn out by the constant activity, but I am still super excited for what the rest of this trip has to offer!
