This week got off to a hot start, working on writing my paper for ACFM 315. I went long into the night Wednesday, and woke up early Thursday to crank out the paper. After this long session of work, we headed to the Stags Head Pub where I had some much-deserved pints and listened to some spooky old Irish stories. After that, we headed to the merchants’ pub, where we got to enjoy dinner and try some famous Irish pudding. Later that night, we decided to test our luck on the blackjack tables at the local casino. After this pit stop, we headed to a pub to finish the night.
I had a rough Friday morning, feeling tired and forgetting my computer charger. I had a great lunch with the other interns at a nice cafe called Voila, which has been my favorite spot in Dublin to eat. After work, I took a quick recovery nap and then decided to head out to Domino’s to enjoy some nice American pizza. Later, I played basketball with my friend and even made some new local Irish friends. I started to feel pretty sick, so I went to sleep early, around 11 pm. Next thing I know, it’s 11 am and I completely slept through the weekend day trip to Blarney Castle. I spent the rest of Saturday recovering in my bed, watching old Marvel movies. Sunday was another long day of recovery. We went to Blackrock to get some Thai food for lunch and spent some time on the beach relaxing. After this, we called it a night.
We had to get up early Monday morning for class. In class, we talked a lot about free speech rights, which was not my favorite subject, but overall, still interesting and informative. Later that day, we headed to the famous Guinness Storehouse for a tour and a pint. The tour was interesting, and I learned a lot about beer and what made Guinness truly unique. After the tour, we headed up to the rooftop to cash in our free drink voucher. I had a surprisingly disappointing pint of Guinness compared to some of the ones I have had at local pubs. We headed downstairs a level to eat some food and had a good time chatting for a while. After a quick stop in the gift shop to buy a gift for a friend, and an hour commute back. I crashed on my bed at 8:00 and went to sleep for the night. Tuesday was an average day of work and lots of chores after work.
Overall, this was a relaxed and chill week. I got a lot of time to catch up on sleep, which I desperately needed, and I had a great time meeting and talking to more locals at Domino’s and the basketball courts.
