Week 3: Galway

Early Friday morning, we set off to the cliffs of Moehr. After a very hot bus ride, we arrived and spent the early afternoon walking along the cliffs of Moehr and enjoying the amazing views. After that, we headed down to a pub where we got to relax with a nice drink and enjoy some chicken wings. We made a short stop at the Burren, which was surprisingly very cool, and it was nice to hop around the rocks and enjoy the view. We then headed to our hostel, where we were staying the night. After grabbing a few essentials for the room and showering, we headed out to dinner, where we enjoyed some much-needed food. We finished the night pub hopping and listening to some live music, including some bagpipes.

After a quick turnaround on Saturday, we headed to the Aran Islands. After a quick ferry ride over and a good bit of waiting to get our rental bikes, we headed out to explore the island. The Aran Island trip has been my favorite so far. I really enjoyed biking along the ocean and going past all the farm animals and small farmhouses. After the Aran islands and a two-hour nap in the hostel, we headed back out to the pubs, where we met a group of locals who we spent the entire night with, hopping from pub to pub. to pub.

After another very quick turnaround on Sunday morning, we started off by stopping at a small goat farm in the mountains, which had an amazing view of a mountain lake. We then headed to Kilmore Abbey, where we got to enjoy some lunch and some more amazing scenery, including a river walk and the amazing gardens. After a quick boat tour on the fjord, we headed back to Dublin and finished the day by watching the Travelers Championship and went to sleep early.

Monday, we had class early in the morning, talking about the controversial topic of abortion. I learned a lot about how others view the topic and their reasons for their opinions, which gave me a lot of perspective. Later that day, we visited the Castle of Dublin and the Custom House and learned a lot about Irish history. Overall, this has been my favorite weekend of the trip so far. Galway was by far my favorite place in Ireland, and I would love to go back there sometime in my life.
