Norah Wolff: Week 2 – Working and Wandering

Within such a short period of time, it is incredible to see what has been accomplished in the period of time since I reached Dublin on June 7th. Entering my second week at Elevate PR as a Public Relations Intern, I have become increasingly comfortable with my colleagues who have been nothing but patient, responsive, and helpful. In the all-women office, we are never short of conversation. Sometimes, it is about the most recent event organized by the agency, but other times, it’s  the newest TikTok trend that connects us. I truly have already learned so much about the PR industry with the most engaging event being held at Taste of Dublin this past week. One of our clients was a sponsor for this major event that took place (TOD) and because of that, I was able to attend on behalf of my office to ensure everything went smoothly with the PR we had promised our client. As we wrapped up the work week, my roommates and I planned our Friday evening to explore the city centre for the restaurants and pubs that were available to us. We stopped at a quick restaurant for little bites and went on to meet a large group of fellow Bucknellians to explore the city; it was a wonderful night! The early morning wakeup call was difficult after a busy week, but the excitement for the days’ activities reemerged once we had made it out of bed. This past Saturday, we travelled to Kilkenny Castle where we had a guided tour followed by free time to enjoy the town ourselves. Sienna, Campbell, Molly, Kayla and I chose to spend our time taking in the sights around the town prior to taking a seat in a restaurant for a quick meal and grabbing coffee before heading back on the road. Next stop was Glendalough, a valley within County Wicklow which had some of the most beautiful sights of what Ireland has to offer. With the rain and some time constraints, our trip here was short but definitely worth the stop. After arriving back to UCD, many of us engaged in conversation to plan our night ahead, which happened to be several of our favorite nights yet. The live music made all the difference and the people I am getting to know rapidly made it such a fulfilling night. Sunday, by no surprise, the jet lag finally caught up to me and I slept quite late. The only major activity I had of the day was going to get my weekly groceries! With my second week at Elevate PR coming to a close,I have come to feel truly apart of the team. Their confidence in my ability to perform adequately is forming, which in turn, grows my comfort level as well. The atmosphere of the office has exceeded my expectations and I thoroughly enjoy getting to see the internal workings of public relations whilst conjointly learning so much about the culture and market in Ireland. I look forward to seeing how much I learn in this field come the end of my time in Ireland, but I am not in any rush to get there!
