Aidan O’Malley: Dublin Week 2 (Saint Patrick’s and more)

Over the past week, I have started to finally adjust to living in Dublin. I have become familiar with the buses and how to get around the city easily. On Friday, my friends and I went to a Saint Patrick’s FC soccer game. We were able to sit close to the field and watch some good Irish soccer. Unfortunately, the game ended in a draw with a score of 0-0. We were lucky enough to watch Mason Meila play, who just signed a record-breaking deal to go play for Tottenham Hotspur FC. We saw him take a penalty kick, but to my surprise, the goalie stopped it. After the game, we all went out in Dublin to enjoy our first Friday out and about the town. On Saturday, we had our first class trip, during which I was finally able to use my new camera and get some great pictures. I had never been to Glendalough, so it was great to explore a new town. I enjoyed getting out of Dublin and seeing all of the beautiful scenery Dublin had to offer. One of the things I had been looking forward to all week was seeing the Upper Lake in Wicklow. I was rather disappointed when the tour guide told us we wouldn’t be going on the walk to see the Upper Lake. Price then had the brilliant idea to quickly run to the lake so we could quickly see it. So, Price and I sprinted quickly to the lake while the rain came down at us. Even though it was raining, the view of the Upper Lake was absolutely beautiful. I was very happy, Price and I decided to make the run. Although getting on the bus covered in mud and being soaked from the rain, it was all worth it in the end. On Monday, we took a trip to the Irish National History Museum. I thought the museum was great, as I was able to learn about how Ireland has changed over ten thousand years. On Tuesday, I had my second first day as I started my new internship. My new internship is already proving to be great, as I was given the opportunity to explore a field that would be something I would want to pursue. My new internship gives me a great chance to learn useful skills that I will be able to take home.
