Week 7: Celtic Tombs and Cliff Walks

Saturday this week we headed to the Boyne Valley which has some of Ireland’s most important historical and archaeological sites. Our first stop was the Hill of Tara, then we headed to the Trim Castle, where we got an impressive tour. The Loughcrew Passage Tombs, our next stop, was a series of ancient burial mounds with stone carvings dating back over 5,000 years. The views from the top of the hill were impressive, and the hike up to them was fun. From there, we made our way to the Hill of Uisneach, known in Irish mythology as the naval of the country. The views stretched for miles in every direction, and our tour guide told us that on a clear day you can see 75% of the counties in Ireland.

On Monday, we took a shorter trip just outside Dublin to the fishing village of Howth for the cliff walk. The weather was, in typical Irish fashion, not on our side, but the views were still stunning.

At Carraighill, I spent most of this week continuing to work on migrating our old blog systems into a newer platform with a much better user interface, so it was satisfying to see everything looking so much cleaner and more intuitive. I also did some data entry for two different banks after their H1 earnings reports, which gave me more insight into how we track and analyze new financial information as it comes in.
