At the start of the trip, I never knew that these seven weeks would fly by so quickly. This whole experience has been so incredibly enriching and entertaining. Going into this, we knew that we would have the opportunity to miss out on two trips throughout the summer, with one being a weekend trip and the other being a weekday trip. Up to this point, I had yet to miss a trip and decided to spend both of my skips on the trips this week and weekend. My roommates also decided to skip out on these events so I knew we were in for a fun and restful weekend.
The fun started Thursday night, as me and two of my friends named Ellix and Layth went out into town to see the sights and experience the Dublin nightlife! Now I know what you must be thinking, “Wait a minute Price. Don’t you have three roommates?” The answer to that question is yes, however, my third roommate Aidan had planned a trip to Munich this weekend and had an early flight Friday morning meaning that he could not join us. Overall, the night was fairly fun but the dynamic was a bit off since one of us was missing.
On Friday, I was able to catch up on a bit of sleep because my boss emailed me saying that I did not have to go into work that day. So overjoyed, I crawled back into bed and my weekend of relaxation began! The next few days all went pretty much as follows: I would sleep in a little later than normal, go to the gym, make some food, and then see what my friends were up to for the night. Because the British Open was going on this weekend, I spent a fair amount of time watching golf in the UCD Village because they had a TV with access to it.
This tried and true formula made the days pass by quickly and before I knew it, it was Monday night and I had an internship to wake up for tomorrow. Thanks to this weekend, I felt very well resented and refreshed, so I was able to attack the day and give it my all at work. Today I was even able to finish the assignment I had been working on since the start of this whole program! My LEGO AFM is now fully functioning and I could not be prouder. This whole experience has taught me a lot, both about atomic force microscopy and myself, and I am excited to bring what I have gained from this experience back to Kansas City when I go home in a bit over a week!
