Week Seven: Starting to Wrap Things Up

As our time in Dublin starts to wrap up, I’m filled with lots of emotions. This past week has been super busy. My classroom was especially emotional this week, as it was graduation on Friday for the children I’ve been lucky enough to teach this summer. It’s hard to explain how special these kids are and the relationships I have created with them. Saying goodbye wasn’t easy and I can’t believe they are all moving on. I got lots of thank you cards and gifts from the parents, which was super thoughtful, and now I can remember these kids forever.

We took a trip to the Celtic Boyne Valley on Saturday which was really interesting. Standing by ancient tombs and stones, I felt like I had stepped back in time. It was a powerful reminder of the history that Ireland embodies. I really enjoyed the donkeys and pretty mountain views. Another highlight was our visit to Howth. The town was charming and reminded me of Maine (one of my favorite places), however, the weather put a damper on the day. Also, walking through the thorn bushes wasn’t very peaceful. Seeing a sea lion in the distance was a highlight of the day. We wrapped up Monday with a delicious lunch and headed back.

Now, as the weekend approaches, I’m looking forward to my trip to Mallorca. A free weekend on a sunny island feels like the perfect way to close this chapter and reset before heading home. I’m excited for the beautiful water and relaxation.

Even though our trip is coming to an end i’m determined to make the most of our time here. I feel so lucky and grateful to have been able to have this experience with these wonderful people.

Beautiful views from howth.

It’s great to hear about the connections you formed with your students and I’m sure graduation was a very fulfilling experience! Also, the Boyne Valley trip looks like it was a ton of fun!
