I am in disbelief that I am writing my blog for my 7th week in Dublin! I wish time here could slow down! Although the sun rises here around 5:30am and sets around 9:30pm the days never seem long enough to do everything I want to do. Once again I’ve had another incredible week here (I know I say that every week, but it’s true).
This past week my friends and I had some fun nights out at the pub. We went to Disndats, Fitzsimmons, and Ryans. I love listening to the live music while spending time with the amazing friends I’ve made on this trip. We catch up on the days we’ve had at work and plan out fun things to do during the week together. For dinner one night we tried Masa which was delicious! I would definitely recommend the quesadillas.
Over the weekend we traveled to many historical sites around Ireland and learned all about their importance and symbolism. We hiked up steep hills but the views from the top were definitely worth it! I enjoyed getting to see a fairy tree up close since we learned so much about them during our Folklore and Fairytales event. I saw offerings that people left for the fairies scattered around the base of the tree such as seashells and teabags. I ended the weekend meeting up with my family that lives in Ireland. It was so nice to see them again and I love being able to spend so much time with them while I am here!
On Monday we traveled to Howth by taking the Dart train. This was such a cool experience as the train traveled right by the water. Although this was a rainy day with poor visibility I really enjoyed our hike around the area. We walked through some big puddles and prickly plants but this led us to see a beautiful 200 year old lighthouse set upon the edge of the cliffs. We had the chance to see some seals in the water and a species of birds that migrate to Howth each year to nest on the sides of the cliffs. Before getting on the Dart, my roommates and I decided to stop for lunch and rest our feet for a little while.
I’ll have to start packing soon for my exciting trip to Mallorca later this week with my roommates. We are very excited and ready to enjoy some sun and warmth! I’ll be back next week to tell you all about our travels!
