The past few days have been incredibly eventful and filled with memorable experiences. One of the highlights was attending an Irish House Party, which was both lively and culturally enriching. We enjoyed a traditional music and dance performance that was not only entertaining but also gave us insight into Irish heritage. The musicians played with such passion and skill, and the atmosphere in the room was electric. What made the evening even more engaging was the audience interaction — the performers invited us to participate in songs. It was a fun and immersive way to connect with the local culture and appreciate the vibrant traditions that have been passed down through generations.
I also walked around a bit, visited Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, saw some cool magnets at Castle Market, and then explored Trinity College Dublin.
As part of my program, we also visited Kilmainham Gaol Museum in Dublin. This former prison, now a historical site, played a significant role in Ireland’s path to independence. It housed many political prisoners and notable Irish revolutionaries, several of whom were executed within its walls. Walking through the stone corridors and stark cells gave us a powerful and somber glimpse into Ireland’s struggle for freedom. The tour was both educational and emotionally moving. The guide’s storytelling was vivid and heartfelt, making the history come alive and prompting deep reflection on the cost of liberty.
Later that day, we decided to explore more of the city and eventually made our way to Wings World Cuisine, a buffet restaurant known for its wide array of international dishes. The variety was impressive — from Asian dumplings and stir-fried noodles to salt and pepper chicken, every dish was flavorful and satisfying. I ended up going back for three servings since it was an all-you-can-eat setup. The dessert section was equally delightful, featuring unique and creative sweets that added a fantastic end to the meal. The entire experience was a feast for both the stomach and the senses.
I also had a lovely afternoon out with my coworkers when we went for lunch at the Park West Tavern. It was a cozy and relaxed setting, perfect for casual conversation. I ordered a delicious pasta dish with chicken and mushrooms, which was hearty and well-seasoned. Over the meal, we talked about everything from our travel experiences and work projects to our favorite TV shows. It was a great way to unwind and strengthen connections outside the work environment. Park West is a quieter area but it has a few great restaurants.
