Week 7 of Bucknell in Dublin is already coming to an end and I cannot believe how fast it has gone by. We only have one more week after this which means this is my second to last blog. I have grown to really enjoy blogging, and I am considering continuing my weekly blogs even after Dublin. It is a great way to keep my family and friends updated on my life.
This past week was definitely more laid-back than most, but the slower pace was much needed—especially since my friends and I are heading to Portugal tomorrow for our free weekend! Most of my days consisted of my internship, getting a workout in, then going out with my friends.
On Sunday morning, Kiki, Emilia, Lucie, and I got a delicious brunch at a place called Jay Kays. I love big breakfasts and I haven’t had one in a while, so Jay Kays definitely hit the spot.
The highlight of the week was our Monday day trip to Howth for a cliff walk. It was gloomy and rainy, but honestly, I loved getting out of the city and into nature. The hike started off a little rough—we were trudging through muddy puddles while spiky plants brushed our legs—but it was totally worth it. The wildflowers were beautiful, and once we reached the cliffs overlooking the ocean, the views were absolutely breathtaking.
After the hike, we grabbed lunch at a seafood spot in town that was recommended to us by our hike guide. Howth is a fishing town, so the seafood is apparently amazing (I wouldn’t know because the only seafood I’ll eat is cooked salmon). However, Lucie, Kiki, and Rayna seemed to enjoy their lobster rolls, oysters, and mussels! I just stuck with my usual plain burger with no bun.
We then took the DART to Blackrock and wandered around the town a bit. Because apparently hiking wasn’t enough walking for one day, we decided to trek all the way back to UCD. Later that evening, Lucie, Kiki, and I met up with Emilia and her parents at a nearby pub. It was super fun meeting them and taking baby Guinness shots together!
All in all, this week was less eventful than most, but it was refreshing to have a bit of a breather before the final stretch. I’m excited to see what our last week in Dublin brings—and even more excited for Portugal this weekend!
