This weekend got started off early on Thursday after work with dinner at a pub. After dinner, we decided to spend the night exploring more of Dublin. We had an early morning next Friday and a busy day of work. I was feeling a little sick, so I enjoyed some pizza and went to sleep early, preparing for our early trip the next morning.
After an early morning call, we headed to the Dublin countryside to the Hill of Tara, where we got to see the famous stone that crowned early Irish Kings by screaming out loud. After a much-needed break for food, where I had a scone and bacon, egg, and cheese that helped me recover. We headed to Trim Castle, which was by far the tallest castle we had seen on the trip. It was interesting to see what life was like living in a castle, and I was surprised by how low the ceilings were. We then headed to lunch, where we had an interesting experience when the waiter served us completely different food than we ordered, but it still ended up completely fine. We then headed to the next place where we were able to walk right up next to cows and from the top of the hill, we were able to see 2/3 of Ireland. After that, we headed on the bus and went back home. After a tour recovery of watching the Open, my friend and I headed downstairs to play some poker with our new Polish friends. We had a good 2-3 hours playing and getting to know them. After that, my friend and I headed on a walk to get some pizza, and we called it a night.
Most of Sunday was spent watching Scottie win the Open and catching up with family members. Monday, we took the DART for the first time to Howth Island. After what you could describe as an adventurous walk, we arrived at the cliffs and got to enjoy the view. After the wet morning, we went to a nice seafood restaurant where I got to have a nice chowder and crab cakes. Tuesday was another day of work at the internship. After work, I worked out really quickly, and then we headed downtown to enjoy some Chinese street food, which was really good. After that, we stayed out a little and enjoyed some Dublin nightlife before calling it a night and heading back to UCD.
