This week was both eventful and relaxing. In the recent weeks at Carraighill, I have been doing some very interesting work helping them update their ETL systems. Although this is a very new and difficult process for me, I enjoy the problem-solving involved and the challenges of an unfamiliar task. Additionally, I am enjoying the opportunity to refine my coding skills and use my computer science skills in an environment outside of the classroom. I think one of my favorite parts about working at Carraighill, however, is the large amount of information that I am learning about banks, the economy, and financial markets. The work is especially drawing my interest towards how companies such as hedge funds and private equity firms invest their money within the market.
To start the weekend, Tennyson, Brad, and I went golfing once again at the Grange Castle Golf Club. This time we played 18 holes of golf in weather that turned out to be very sunny. This took us about four hours, which was most of our Saturday. Although none of us played that well, and my golf balls, in particular, had a strong passion for finding the water, we still had a great time. Brad ended up besting both Tennyson and me, but I brought a strong second-place performance, although I struggled to putt on the green.
On Sunday, I used the day as a reset, buying groceries and meal prepping for the long week ahead. I spent part of the day watching the end of the Open and saw Scottie Scheffler take home first place. That night Brad, Tennyson, and I ended the day back at DisNDat for another night of trivia and bingo. We unfortunately didn’t perform too well this time in trivia, but we still had a great time. Brad ended up winning bingo and got us some free drinks as a prize.
This week, we didn’t have class so we got the chance to wake up a little later than usual on Monday. However, we did still have a trip and this week we went to the Howth Cliff walk. Unfortunately due to the rain, this trip wasn’t my favorite. Although the views were amazing at the top of the cliff and the hike was enjoyable the rain put a damper on the day. After the hike was over we had the opportunity to explore the town, but I had a few zoom calls that I had to get back to UCD for. I had also already been to Howth a few weeks earlier and had gotten the chance to explore so I didn’t mind making the trip shorter for myself. That wrapped up this week, and leaves me with one week left of experiences. I am super excited for this weekend as I take a trip to Germany to see one of my best friends. I am also excited to go home to my family, but am super sad to be leaving Dublin which has been such a memorable experience.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I’m glad the sun was out while you went golfing especially since it’s been a pretty cloudy week. Trivia night sounds like a blast and i’m sure if you guys keep practicing your facts you’ll win next time. Hope you have a great time in Germany visiting your friend!
