The weekend got off to an early start on Thursday with a nice salmon dinner at the Irish House Party venue. After some ice cream and brownies for dessert, we headed down to the basement for some traditional Irish music. The music was fun to listen to and clap along to, and we even got to see some traditional Irish tap dancing. After this event, we hit the town to enjoy some Dublin nightlife. Friday, I had to give a two-minute presentation on the company call. After work on Friday, we headed to a nice dinner at a Thai restaurant. After this and a chaotic bus ride, we spent the rest of the night at some local pubs.
For the first time this trip, we got to sleep in on Saturday morning. After a quick lunch, I headed to the golf course for a round of 18. After a long day of golf, I arrive back very late that night. After a quick turnaround, we headed back towards downtown Dublin to enjoy the city. Midway through the night, my friend and I headed to enjoy dumplings from a local restaurant, and after this quick fuel up we went to try our luck on the poker table. After this, we called it a night.
On Sunday morning, we woke up and made the hour trek to the Gaelic sports complex on the other side of the town. I had a great time learning and playing new sports like Gaelic football, hurling, and handball. I was surprised to learn that all Gaelic athletes were amateurs, meaning they were not paid, and that they all played for their hometown town which I thought was really cool and unique compared to America, where we see players leave the franchises they were drafted to for massive contracts. After this, we headed to a nice Korean restaurant for dinner, and I was asleep by 8:30. On Monday, we had our last ACFM 315 class, where we learned about workers’ rights. After class, we got a tour of the old famous prison, which was pretty bleak, and after we headed to a pub to enjoy a double smash burger. I had a long weekend where I got to enjoy a lot of time walking around Dublin and getting a lot of exercise.
