Aidan O’Malley: Week 6 (Friends from out of town)

Week 6 of Bucknell in Dublin was a rather good week. On Friday, I ended the week finishing up another project at work and feeling excited for my friend John to visit from Munich. On Saturday morning, my friend John arrived and we spent the entire day out in the city of Dublin. I showed him some of my favorite spots. My friends and I all enjoyed a delicious taco dinner in the city before going out for the night. On Sunday morning, we had the Gaelic games experience, which John was able to attend with us. I was shocked by how different but fun the games were. We spent the first half of the experience learning about the history of the games and the basic fundamentals of the sport. After that, we were able to play a real game against each other, which was very cool and a lot of fun. I found hurling to be the coolest sport of them all, as it was something I had never done before and was very unique. After the Gaelic games, my friends and I all got ice cream and then relaxed the rest of our Sunday. On Sunday night, we stayed in and watched Chelsea crush PSG 3-0 in the Club World Cup Final. As a Chelsea fan, I was super happy with this outcome and honestly rather surprised, as most experts predicted a total crushing by PSG. On Monday morning, we had our final class, which left me feeling happy and sad at the same time, as our time here in Dublin is quickly coming to a close. After class, I said goodbye to John and then left to go to the Kilmainham Gaol prison tour. Even though we got rained on, I thought the prison tour was very cool, as it was filled with the history of the Irish fight for liberation. Although the week has just begun, I am super excited as I will be having my busiest week yet, visiting not one but two countries. On Thursday, I travel to Lithuania, and on Friday, I will be visiting John in Munich. I have been to neither of these countries before, so I am excited to experience their cultures and tick them off my bucket list. After spending four days in Germany, I hope to learn and see as much as possible about German culture.
