Price Wilson: Week 3 – I Couldn’t Ask for Moher!

I am now onto week three here in Dublin, and it has absolutely flown by! This week has by felt like the busiest of the trip so far, but it has also been my favorite. This past weekend, we had a trip all the way across Ireland to Gallway, where we spent two nights and three days sightseeing and learning more about Irish culture. The hostel we were staying at left much to be desired, with six people crammed in a room with no air conditioning, but to be fair, we did spend much time inside anyway.

The bus left super early on Friday morning, and we were in for a long one. The Cliffs of Moher was our destination and we finally arrived about 4 hours after leaving campus. This view was absolutely incredible and well worth the hours spent on the bus. I took so many photos and took in so many amazing sights. My friends and I hiked the entire length of the path, which was not too terribly long because some parts were closed off, but it felt so nice to be up and moving. As we continued onto Galway, we stopped at a spot called the Burren which was also pretty sweet. We got to Galway at around 5:30 and there was quite a quick turnaround because my friends and I had to get showered and grab a bite to eat before the St. Pats game we got tickets for. They ended up losing, but it was cool to see another soccer stadium and experience the environment. Afterwards, we hit the town and we ended up at a pub where the musicians were playing the bagpipes! It was so cool to see and hear the music because it was something I totally was not expecting and had never seen before.

On Saturday, we headed to Inishmore and it was absolutely beautiful. The weather was not the greatest, but the sun did poke out a few times. I also did not dress warm enough for the island breeze, so I made sure to stop and grab a sweater that had been made on the island, and let me tell you, it sure is comfy! The following day we went to Kylemore Abbey and spent most of the day there. It was still cool, however by this point of the trip I was pretty exhausted.

All in all, the weekend was a lot of fun and it was really cool to see a different point of Ireland and view how things were different in Galway compared to Dublin. My favorite parts of the trip were by far the Cliffs of Moher, but I have to give an honorable mention to the man playing the bagpipes. My internship is still going well, and I haven’t gotten homesick quite yet, so I am super excited to see what next week has in store for me!
