Week 3 and just when I thought it could not get better, it has. My roommates and I prepared for the week by stocking up our groceries after class on Monday, conversations fully encompassing the excitement for the weekend that was to come. It surely did not disappoint, but let’s start from the beginning.
As our internships run Tuesday-Friday, we all have seemingly found our routine with getting to and fro work. Molly and I caught the 39A to work together per usual, reminiscing on the weekend we had and discussing our plans for the week to come. Although the days can feel quite long, I have continually had such an amazing experience at work. Last week, I worked on a press release myself and this week, I am continually working on more dense tasks with the same client. It may seem odd to say, but it has been a joy to start seeing consistency in our clients. It is starting to feel like I know what I am doing!
Because of our scheduled trip to Galway, we had Friday off to get on the road at 6:50AM! Fun! However, the Cliffs of Moher truly made this wake up call so worthwhile. As many people say, pictures do not do it justice. I hope everyone gets the chance to see it with their own eyes some day because there truly was nothing like it, especially on the sunny day we were lucky enough to have. On our way to Galway, we also stopped to see the Barrens which I surprisingly had never heard about. I say surprisingly because although I had just left a landmark location of Ireland, these rocks off the shore of the country still had awed me. From what felt like the longest day of traveling, we arrived in Galway at our hostel to prepare for a night of exploring the city.
With a quick dinner by the river to fuel ourselves, we approached the night with the highest of expectations based on the crowds that filled the streets by 8:00PM. Expectations were surely met with new people, new streets, and new locations to explore that filled the night. The next morning, we had an early wakeup once again to catch the ferry to Inis Mor. The pictures I include below will let this trip speak for itself, but it was easily my favorite part of the trip thus far. My friends and I biked a total of 10 miles with pit stops to pet the wild horses, feed the cows, and ice cream of course. The views were like nothing I have seen before, which I am sensing will be a commonality throughout my visits across Ireland. The bike ride allowed me to view the island as what it once was with its old age visible, but so beautiful. It captured the ocean views for miles on miles, all whilst laughing with people who have become such good friends. It truly was an experience I will never forget! That night, my roommates and I grabbed dinner at Elephant and Castle, which we all would recommend to anyone; it was incredible. We followed our night at the pubs where we came across Mary Mullen’s, my favorite bar so far! The next day, we visited Kylemore Abbey which I was extremely excited about and although we did not have the best weather, we made the most of it. My mom is extremely interested in this time period, so I was excited to show her pictures if nothing else. As we made our way home Sunday night, we reflected on our weekend of amazing memories that left us completely drained, but was well worth it.
Beginning another week at Elevate PR, I am excited to see how I progress through the bigger projects I am working on now. Moreover, our weekend to Blarney Castle is an anticipated highlight of the week this Saturday as we hit the road again. I am eager to see how the new area of Cork, Ireland compares to Galway on the West Coast. I will update you on that next week!
