What a week! This week was packed with so many new experiences. I had a first week at my new internship. I started learning the ins and outs of my job, and I had already learned valuable information in my first week. I have my first presentation tomorrow, which I am excited to complete. This weekend we took our first weekend to trip to Galway. I had been looking forward to visiting Galway with my friends since we all agreed to come spend our summer in Ireland. On Friday, we visited the Cliffs of Moher, which were breathtaking. Although having seen many pictures and videos online, they do not do the cliffs justice. Upon arrival, you walk up to the edge and see stunning cliffs and a beautiful blue-green ocean in front of you. After walking the entirety of the cliff, we sadly had to leave. Although we were only being there for a few hours, we experienced some truly amazing views. After a short bus ride, we arrived at the Burren. I had never been there before and was shocked at how interesting the rocks were. The Burren were rocks that had been created by volcanic lava and then washed over by the ocean, creating unique cracks in the rocks. After spending only a short time at the Burren, we got on the bus again and headed off to Galway City. On Friday night, my friends and I went to another soccer game to watch Saint Patrick’s FC again. Unfortunately, they lost 3-1, but it was great to see them play and experience the environment of a Galway soccer game. After the game, my friends and I went out for a night in Galway. On Saturday morning, we woke up early and took a trip to Inishmore. At Inishmore, we grabbed lunch, and I had some delicious calamari and fish and chips. After lunch, I went on a bike ride with my friends, seeing the precious nature Inishmore had to offer. I was very surprised by how much I liked Inishmore. I’d have to say that it is my favorite trip so far. On Saturday night, my friends and I went out again to Galwat City and had the best of times. Listening to some classic Irish music and meeting some other students who were studying abroad in Galway. Sadly, after a weekend of fun, we had to leave Galway, which, in my opinion, is a phenomenal city and maybe even better than Dublin. On Sunday, we visited Kilmore Abbey and took a boat trip to see the Aran Islands. The gardens of Kilmore Abbey were awesome, and the boat tour was very cool. After taking some great photos, we headed back onto the bus to return back to UCD. I am looking forward to another great week to create fond memories.
