Now that I’ve been in Dublin for a bit, I feel like I’ve finally settled in. I’m slowly getting the hang of the bus system—though I somehow managed to get on the wrong bus three times in a row (don’t ask how, I’m still trying to figure that out myself).
One day for lunch, I tried Bambino’s pizza, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I had the Vodka (8/10) and Vito slice (9.5/10). BOMB AF I highly recommend going, but go to the one on Baggot street because it’s less crowded.
While at Little Kitchen I felt so bougie eating dinner there. It was my first time trying creme brulee and definitely was not what i was expecting, but I’d say it’s pretty good. (6.5/10)
As for my internship, I’ve been loving it. The staff really is so fun and the office is so entertaining. One of my coworkers went on a whole tangent about the AI Bigfoot and Yeti on tiktok and ended up making his own. He AI generated a little chihuahua that looked like his dog at home, sitting on a business chair speaking in an Irish accent. On another day my boss brought Brad and I some Irish snacks to try and we rated them out of ten.
Besides these events I actually do work though, mainly cleaning up stock market data on my company’s software. Ieven got to hop on a call with one of the computer science developers who helps optimize our systems, which was super cool and gave me more insight into the backend of the tech we use.
Over the weekend, I loved seeing Kilkenny castle on Saturday. It was so gorgeous! I loved the fine detail in the decor inside the castle—especially the bottoms of wine glasses used as part of the design for the windows in the kitchen. I went with Kate to this little restaurant called Aran and got a Korean Chicken Wrap, which is their most famous meal on the menu, and it was so worth it. (9.5/10) I had this misconception about the food before coming here to Dublin because so many people told me that the food is bad, but honestly it’s been pretty good so far.
On Monday we went to the National Museum of Ireland and I enjoyed this one much more than EPIC. The bog people were lowkey uncomfortable to look at but yet interesting so I don’t know how I really feel and it. Also I enjoy looking at all the handcrafted jewelry and items made out of gold. It’s amazing to see that people back in the day created such detailed and intricate designs.
I think my favorite part of the city is how friendly everyone is here. I’ve talked to so many people on the bus or just walking around here. Today right before I came home to type this blog out, this little old lady and I sat on the bench together. Comes to find out that she and her daughter were walking around shopping in Dublin today. She (I never got her now) was telling me she’s from England and actually hates it there, but LOVES Dublin so much. The reason she doesn’t move here is because her children and grandchildren all live in England, but one day she plans on moving away. She then asked me where I live and was surprised to find out I’m from the states, (idk how she couldn’t tell from my accent) but I told her about my life in the states and why I am in Dublin right now. She told me I should move to Europe when I graduate, but not England. Her words, not mine. Loved the advice though (20/10 Thanks Grams!)
