My second week in Dublin ushered the oppurtunity for me to truly delve into my work. Interning at a tech startup has been even better than I expected it to be, and I am so grateful to be given tasks that challenge me intellectually and improve my technical skills. As a RevOps intern, my current project is doing data hygine on the company’s CRM. The majority of the project is mitigating the presence of duplicate records, such as two instances of the same company or contact point. Although it wasn’t what I anticipating to be doing, I have genuinely love it.
In the past week, I have extracted over 302,000 duplicate records by accessing the CRM API, implemented domain normalization and contact segmentation logic, streamed large-scale results to CSV for efficient processing, and developed automated logic to identify parent-child company relationships using domain roots and sales indicators (all while optimizing data hygiene workflows for scalable import into HubSpot). I also wrote a report on our duplication efforts, and edited the regex logic on properties in the CRM that are reformated from our integrations. (This may sound crazy but I found all of this all to be so fun).
I have loved seeing how what I am learning in class is applying to real-world experiences, and how helpful my computer science knowledge has been in this position.
Beyond work, I had a wonderful time exploring this weekend! We went to Kilkenny and Wicklow, which was so beautiful. I especially loved Kilkenny, as both the castle and little town was beautiful. The castle tour was great, and getting lunch with my roommates after was very nice. After lunch, we found this perfume shop that made their own scents. The scents were replicates of popular perfumes (for a much lower cost), and my friends and I had a great time trying the different samples. The shop even had a pamphlet that showed which scents smelled like the ones they made. I got one that smelled just like the ChloƩ Nomade, which also is just like my favorite perfume, YSL Libre. It was so fun to try all the different options, but I am not suprised that I stuck with something similar to my usual favorite.
After the perfume store, Valley of Roses, we explored the town of Kilkenny and just walked around. I loved the old buildings and cobblestone streets. Then we got back on the bus to go to the Wicklow mountains, which had beautiful views on the ride there. I got some beautiful pictures (shown below)!
