After a long but amazing second week in Dublin, my excitement for what’s to come only grows. This week, I was especially able to get accustomed to my new internship. All of the people who work at Carraighill are very welcoming and always willing to help me learn when I need it. My fellow interns, Charlie, who is also one of my roommates, and Lucy. Both of whom I have enjoyed working with as we converse throughout the day, getting to know each other at lunch, taking the bus to work, and within the office. One of my favorite things about the internship is working in the town of Dun Laoghaire. It has amazing views of the water, and has many small but delicious places to eat. I hope to come back to Dun Laoghaire and spend a day here with my friends, getting a chance to explore the harbor more and go for a swim at the Forty Foot, which is a historic swimming area on the southern tip of Dublin Bay.
This week, I was also able to form stronger bonds with my new friends Brad, Tennyson, and Nick. I have enjoyed spending time with them exploring the city of Dublin, trying new foods, getting to know more about the Irish culture, and experiencing a little bit of the nightlife. I also tend to stick with them during our weekly trips throughout Ireland. This past weekend we went to Kilkenny and visited a few of the cathedrals, the Kilkenny Castle, and went shopping throughout the town. After our journey in Kilkenny, we headed off to the Wicklow Mountains, where we saw some amazing views of the countryside. The Wicklow Mountains were amazing, but unfortunately, due to poor weather and lack of time, we weren’t able to experience the beautiful views as much as I had hoped.
On Sunday, I was able to enjoy some free time and reset for the week ahead. On Monday, we continued to dig deeper into the US law and compared it to Irish law within class. After we went to the National Museum of Ireland, where we learned more about the history of Ireland and got the chance to see the bog bodies. Afterwards, Brad, Nick, Tennyson, and I grabbed dinner at the Hairy Lemon, where I got Chicken Goujons, which reminded me of how I always used to get Chicken Tenders at home when I was younger.
To wrap up the week, I started back up in the office and got some lunch with Lucy and Charlie at a local pasta bar called Dall’Italia Pastabar, which I have a feeling I will be going to a lot because I can’t get enough of the pesto chicken macaroni!
